When your child is sick, the world doesn’t stop and allow you time to process and adapt. It doesn’t stop so you can grieve and mourn the loss of a future you’ll never have. The bills still have to be paid, the dog still needs to be walked, other children still need to go to school, be parented and loved. For many families, meeting life’s demands is challenging enough without the serious illness of a child. But when faced with the tragic diagnosis of a brain tumor, their lives are shattered.
Putting up Christmas lights, buying gifts or even getting a tree is not only overwhelming, but often simply impossible. Time and resources are limited, and as the primary caretaker, and in many cases the primary breadwinner, parents are fatigued and running on empty.
So this year, Peyton’s Ranch is putting up the Christmas lights, buying the gifts and bringing the tree (and most often, the stand, lights and decorations too). We know nothing can take away the pain, but we hope to ease the burden just a tiny bit this holiday season by sharing the joy and magic of Christmas.
If you would like to help support our families this Christmas, you can do so by purchasing or donating a tree, decorations, lights or gifts. We also need volunteers to coordinate family service and put up Christmas lights. Please let us know if you are interested and think about what you might be able to do next year!
